UTILIGUARD® SURGE PROTECTION

UtiliGuard® is designed to protect electrical devices from sudden voltage spikes by relieving them to ground.  By virtually eliminating surge activity, UtiliGuard® will reduce the operating temperature of electrical equipment, which will increase its longevity and reduce the maintenance cost of electrical equipment, all while not compromising the way in which even the most sensitive equipment functions or operates.  The crucial specifications that define a reliable surge protector are clamping voltage, joules rating, and response time.  UtiliGuard® offers the lowest clamping voltage, one of the larges peak joules ratings, and the quickest response time available on the market.

• Proprietary Heat Sink Formula - The design and composition of the UtiliGuard is only available from DFS, and DFS stands behind its product.

• Clamping voltage – This system clamps surges at 130 Volts, the lowest level in the industry.

• Clamping Speed – At 85 picoseconds (trillionths of a second), the UtiliGuard® is one of the fastest surge suppression systems available.

Prevents Harmonic Distortion:

UtiliGuard® offers a unique harmonic distortion-filtering device designed to protect all electrical devices from the harmful effects of harmonic distortion, thus prolonging the lifespan of valuable equipment.  Harmonic distortion is found in both the voltage and the current waveform. Most current distortion is generated by electronic loads, also called non-linear loads. These non-linear loads might be single-phase loads such as point-of-sale terminals, or three-phase as in variable speed drives. As the current distortion is conducted through the normal system wiring, it creates voltage distortion according to Ohm’s Law. While current distortion travels only along the power path of the non-linear load, voltage distortion affects all loads connected to that particular bus phase. Current distortion affects the power system and distribution equipment. It may directly or indirectly cause the destruction of loads or loss of product. From the direct perspective, current distortion may cause transformers to overheat and fail even though they are not fully loaded. Conductors and conduit systems can also overheat leading to open circuits and downtime.

UtiliGuard® is the only Power Quality System on the market with a $100,000 Connected Equipment Guarantee.  If the system fails, each piece of damaged equipment connected to the protected panel is insured up to $100,000 per occurrence.  In addition, DFS will replace, at no charge, any product that fails to perform as described.

UtiliGuard® also guarantees that the consumer will save a minimum of 20% on their power bill for commercial installations and save a minimum of 10% for residential applications.
